Rev. Mark Shaltanis, Pastor
Pastor Mark is an Iowa native who graduated from Concordia College in Wisconsin and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He served as an associate pastor in Richmond before becoming the pastor of St. Paul’s in November of 1998. He and his wife, Theresa, live in Dunn Loring and have two children. Pastor Mark enjoys music and sports, with a particular love of trail running and hiking.
Rev. Chris Xinhong Yang, Associate and Chinese Pastor
Pastor Yang grew up in Beijing, China. He worked in the area of software development before attending Concordia Seminary in Fort Wayne and becoming a pastor. He was called to serve at St. Paul’s in 2009. From 2015-2018 he served an overseas mission. Pastor Yang and his wife have two young adult boys.
Kantor Aaron Jansen, Director of Music
Kantor Aaron grew up in Wisconsin. He attended Valparaiso University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a PhD in Human Cancer Biology. He worked for a number of years as a researcher in Maryland while also serving as a part-time church musician. In 2015 he completed a Masters in Church Music degree from Shenandoah University. Kantor Aaron has been St. Paul’s Director of Music since 2017. He and his wife, Melissa, have two school-aged children.
Linda Fekete, Secretary
Linda, her husband and their two sons were members of St. Paul’s from 2002 to 2004 before they moved overseas. Linda and family have returned to the area and she works in the office as St. Paul’s church secretary.
Norm Williams
Tawni Harrell, Youth Director
Tawni joined our staff in 2013. She has called Northern Virginia her home for over 18 years. She holds her degree in Child Development and enjoys spending time with her family.
Richard Irwin, Building Manager
Richard grew up in a Foreign Service family, attending high school and college (VCU) in Virginia. He designed theater sets for a number of years before becoming our Custodian in 2014.
Jill Cha, Preschool Director
Jill is originally from Illinois, moving to Virginia in 1983. She and her husband and four children have lived in the neighborhood close to St. Paul’s for many years, with the children all attending the preschool. Jill is an experienced educator who earned her BA in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Tech. She became the Director of the preschool in 2019.
